My Services

Cushlia's Massage Clinic aims to offer a professional and quality Massage Therapy service to customers.

I am a fully qualified Massage Therapist having trained and completed a Degree in the Bachelor of Therapeutic and Sports Massage.

RELAXATION

Relaxation massage is a gentle massage helping to clear built up toxins in the body, using Swedish massage techniques to achieve this. It helps to loosen up and relax the body.

THERAPEUTICS

Therapeutics is better known as Deep Tissue or Remedial massage, this is a technique that uses long deep strokes to loosen up specific muscles that have pain or tension. Working within your tolerance.

SPORTS MASSAGE

Sports Massage can encompass many techniques depending on the client, from vigorous Swedish massage techniques to help warm up before a sporting event, to gentle relaxation afterwards (to flush out all the built up toxins and lactic acid), or Therapeutics (Deep Tissue) for maintenance. Usually Sports Massage encompasses some stretching and strengthening to aid in recovery.

TRIGGER POINT THERAPY

Trigger Point therapy uses compression, heat and some Therapeutic techniques to release a tension point in the body, these often refer to other areas of the body, creating pain and headaches.

PREGNANCY MASSAGE

Pregnancy Massage can be a combination of gentle Relaxation stokes, Trigger Point Therapy and Lymphatic Drainage, specifically for a pregnant woman and her baby, from the first trimester to the last.

NEUROMUSCULAR TECHNIQUES (NMT)

NMT is used to release muscle tension and tightness faster than standard Therapeutics, using deep strokes, compression and movement to achieve this, also engaging the central nervous system.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE (MFR)

MFR is used to loosen and release the connective tissues of the body, using kneading techniques. The connective tissues are better known as fascia which surround the muscles, bones, nerves, and organs of the body and also the skin.

LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

Lymphatic Drainage uses very gentle stokes to help the lymphatic system flush toxins from the body via the heart. This technique can help with reducing fluid retention (and lymphedema) and wrinkles.

NERVE MOBILIZATION (SCIATIC NERVE)

Nerve Mobilization uses a range of techniques to help reduce nerve pain. Using Lymphatic Drainage, Therapeutics, Gentle Nerve Stroking, Relaxation, Ice Therapy, Stretches and Strengthening. Please note that an assessment will need to be completed to see whether you can be a candidate for Nerve Mobilization this can take up to 25 to 30 minutes.

STRETCHING AND STRENGTHENING FOR REHABILITATION

Stretching and Strengthening can be incorporated in with the massage or as aftercare to aid in the recovery process.

About Myself

MY STORY

Cushlia.jpg

Hi Guys, thought I would introduce myself and let you know a little more about me.

I started studying the Bachelor of Therapeutic and Sports Massage in 2010 at the Southern Institute of Technology in Invercargill, after 3 years of studying I came out with my degree and have been enjoying my job ever since!

I have worked with different sports teams such as the Southland Stags, a local Basketball team, local Soccer teams and even all night runs for Cancer.
I did take a break to see the world for a couple of years, utilizing my knowledge of Massage to help people with disabilities over in the UK while being a Carer.

So whether you have some general aches and pains, have a more complex issue or just want to come and relax, don't be shy and come say hi!
